Rich in Spirit

Rich in Spirit
This Kennedy documentary told me that the media accused JFK of not writing his book when he tried to run for president. Kennedy complained that the accusation damaged his reputation and made him look dishonest. The media retracted their statement when threatened by Kennedy's rich father and Kennedy was allowed to move forward into history. He got to keep his name on his book. Has anyone read it? But how many people were already familiar with my words on comedy before I rewrote them here?

I'm not rich. If I threaten to sue big corporations, they just laugh at me. And my relatives were the kind that trusted the TV. When I was falsely accused by all those stars and reporters, it may have damaged my reputation and made me look dishonest. But you would know better than me. What did your parents tell you about me from the age of five to fifteen? What did your teachers and friends say about me when I walked by your school? What did reporters and stars say about me on TV? And how long has it been going on? And what are they saying about me right now?

Have you seen the hours of music I've restored to my name on YouTube in the last eight years? How many hit songs did I write eleven years ago? Enough to be as successful as the Beatles? But the media lied about every single song I wrote. That's some very determined lying, on their part, wouldn't you say? It is clearly an act of hate, perhaps directed against a perceived 'Kennedy lover' by certain powerful right-wing Republicans. If it is, it is mistaken.

Kennedy's campaign song was High Hopes. My mom was Irish Catholic. She sang that song to me in my crib. It's a corny song, but it still cheers me up today. And Kennedy was a poet lover. What goes around comes around. (I know he was a womanizer, too, but maybe he sensed that his time in this world would be short.) Anyway, I have some good excuses for liking that president, regardless of where he fell on the political spectrum. My words on his behalf should not have been taken as such a threat as to cost me so dearly in lost time and work and to cause so much harm to my image.
