Monday Night at the Movies: Sweat (2001)

Monday Night at the Movies: Sweat (2001)
I recall sharing this script before and I recall them stealing it afterwards. It suits my background as a former keyboard player, I think.

Voice: Tonight, the ambiguous tale that puzzled a generation, featuring the nimble Polly Plum as Deidre.

(A classroom. Deidre sits with her peers, facing the teacher.)

Teacher: Good morning, class. I'm your new geography teacher, Mr Quinn. (He turns to print his name on the blackboard. As soon as his chalk touches the surface, switch to slow motion, supported by the loud warbling, droning pulse of a synthesizer: 'da-na-na-na-da-na-na-na-da-na-na-na-da-na-na-na...')

Voice: Even the most ordinary occurrences are exciting, as long as you drop enough 'e'.

(Inside an open elevator. As soon as the '><' button is pushed, 'da-na-na-na-da-na-na-na-da-na-na-na-da-na-na-na...' Switch to slow motion as the doors slide shut.)

Passenger 1: God, this elevator's slow. What's that noise?

Passenger 2: They must be having a rave somewhere.

Passenger 1: Oh well, at least it drowns out the muzak.

Voice: And things can change at the push of a button.

(A music store. A customer is attracted to a synthesizer.)

Salesman: That's one of our hottest models. Go ahead, try it out. (The customer presses a key with his index finger and holds it down: 'da-na-na-na-da-na-na-na-da-na-na-na-da-na-na-na...')

Voice: Get ready for Sweat, tonight on Monday Night at the Movies.
